Alien
By Arushi Bansal
Amid this chaos
The people, the voices
I feel this tingling in my gut
I feel lost.
Surrounded by friends, strangers rather
Murmuring, laughing, talking
They speak a language
I no longer wish to comprehend.
I tried, pretending to blend in
Putting up a good facade
But I’ve never been able to click
There’s something that doesn’t fit.
Maybe I am wired differently
I don’t belong here
And now I don’t want to stay.
I wish to run away
Escape.
Wander out into the wild
Seeking a sense of belonging
Scavenging for my kind
Us, the aliens:
The ones who just don’t fit in
